Met
& Southern IOM Championship.
For 2009 the Met & Southern 1 Metre Championship will consist
of FOUR rounds held at different venues
within the District. The District Champion will be the skipper
with the best total for any three races when all four rounds have
been completed. If an event is cancelled then that event becomes
null and void and the champion will be the skipper with the best
total for any two races from the Three completed events.
If a competing skipper acts as the Race Officer for an event he
will be awarded "average" points for that event.
Calculation
of race points for IOM District Championship competitors and Race Officers.
The calculation will be a modified version of the formula used for National Ranking
events. This version awards the skipper in last place a positive score
rather than zero as in the MYA National Ranking formula.
Competitors' points will be calculated using the formula below where S is the number of yachts that start in at least one heat in the event and F is the competitor's finishing position. Points will be rounded to the nearest whole number.
The Race Officer's points will be calculated by finding the average of that person's points after completion of at least 2 counting events. Points will be rounded to the nearest whole number. Points awarded to Race Officers will be recalculated after each event.
How
to enter for each round of the competition.
Entering each round of the 1 Metre Championship will follow
the standard procedure. Skippers should contact the
secretary or racing officer of the host club and give details
of sail number, MYA membership number, club, contact telephone number and range
of frequencies. If possible entries should be made well in
advance of the date of the event and not later than the preceding Wednesday.
